Our Story

For as long as I can remember, Poppa’s nightcap has been a heaping bowl of ice cream. He’s never been too picky about the flavor. Honestly, most flavors never fail to please his palate. Visions of him scooping and tightly packing his “nightcap” to his cereal bowl brim are permanently ingrained in our memory.

Needless to say, his love for ice cream has been passed down through the generations. In fact, his grand girls, Karli and Emma Rae, have also acquired a deep love and affection for the smooth, creamy, delectable treat. They never miss an opportunity to sneak in a bowl while at Poppa and Grammy’s house, even if it’s for breakfast. Now I’d say that’s a breakfast for champions, wouldn’t you?

In addition to loving ice cream, Poppa genuinely loves people and most would say he has mastered the art of socializing. It goes without saying that people and socializing are the air he breathes, and he never declines an opportunity to mix and mingle.

In the fall of 2017, due to some unforeseen health circumstances, Poppa retired before he was quite ready. So, what does a retired workaholic do when he can no longer physically work 24/7 and is confined to home for more hours that he cares to count? He begins to surf the internet and stumbles upon a potential hobby of interest. You see, Poppa’s hobby has always been work, but when confined to home for days on end, while undergoing chemo treatments, he used his research skills to give him the best of both worlds...the mix of work and a newfound hobby. It was no surprise that it would involve his grand kids and people because quite frankly, those are the two things that bring him the most joy. After more than a year of research, a little convincing, and some slight coercion, he revealed to us that his newfound hobby would be a labor of love with his grand kids. And that folks is how Five Grands Creamery evolved.

Five Grands Creamery is a handcrafted, small batch, premium ice cream company that passionately strives to serve fellow ice cream aficionados with fresh, high-quality ingredients as we create specialty seasonal flavors of the finest, handcrafted ice cream. Although Five Grands Creamery has an infatuation with ice cream, our primary goal is to demonstrate our love for people and to use our gifts to serve others and to impact our community.
